On Sunday, May 24, after Sunday Service, the Social Justice committee will be meeting in the Tot Green Room and sharing an opportunity for public comment on the future of the former Federal Corrections Institution in Dublin. The former women’s prison closed in April 2024 due to inmate abuse, facility decay, and mismanagement. Now, it might be re-opened to be used for immigration detention.
Community organizers with ICE Out of Dublin Coalition are encouraging people to submit public comments before June 1 that call for the facility to remain closed and to consider demolishing it.
