Every year, the Social Justice Committee recommends semi-annual tithing recipients for our church members to support. These community partners receive half of our tithing/contribution plate, which helps them fulfill their missions of lifting up members in our wider community. Below are some examples of past tithing recipients and others that (Unitarian Universalist in Livermore) UUCiL supports:

Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote seven Principles, which we hold as strong values and moral guides. Three that apply to our purpose of sharing our plate tithe with community partners are:

  • 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • 2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  • 6th Principle: The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.
