Susan Hayter was born in Great Britain and lived through WWII as a child. She hails from an international family, the heritage of colonialism. Susan attended Cambridge University. After marrying Brian Mayall, they emigrated to Canada then Philadelphia in time for the Cuban Missile Crisis. Ten years later they settled in Livermore and became members of UUCiL. Susan owned and operated Goodenough Books here from 1980 to 2003 and authored the book “All the Pennies in the World: An English Wartime Childhood”. She and Brian have four children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
