Our New Tithing Recipient

The Tri Valley Bus Pass Program

Every 6 months our church designates a Tithing Recipient organization that is making a difference in the world to receive half of our Sunday Morning offering. Starting July 1, 2024, we have designated the Tri Valley Bus Pass Program. Like many of our past tithing recipients, The Tri Valley Bus Pass Program is closely tied to the good work of our church members and friends.

In 2016, Jacky Poulsen, a longtime friend of UUCiL, recognized that while there were many social service agencies and programs in our valley, there were large numbers of people, many unsheltered, who were unable to utilize them due to lack of transportation. Jacky was determined to do something about this and the Tri-Valley Bus Pass Program began. Today the need for assistance with transportation is even greater.

Two members of our church are coordinators with Jacky and beginning in July and through December 2024 the monies we raise as we pass the plate on Sundays will be used to buy 24-hour bus passes which will be given to organizations like Open Heart Kitchen, Vineyard Resource Center, Tri-Valley Haven, Interfaith Food Pantry, Cornerstone Fellowship and Tri Valley Seek and Save. They in turn will distribute them to their clients. No one should go hungry or lack clothing or healthcare because they don’t have transportation.

If your blessings allow, consider mailing a check made out Asbury United Methodist Church at 4743 East Avenue, Livermore, CA 94550.  Write Bus Pass Program on the envelope and on the memo line. Include your email address so you can get an acknowledgement.
